HSV II not so hard for VfB Oldenburg!

VfB Oldenburg kicked off the new Regionalliga Nord season 2023/24 with a 3-1 (3-0) away win at Hamburger SV II. The VfB started the game well and deservedly took a 3-0 lead after just half an hour. HSV II came back in the second half, but in the end Oldenburg brought the lead over the time.

In front of a crowd of 787 spectators at the HSV training ground, the guests from Oldenburg made a dream start. Already in the 3rd minute Omar Traore brought his team with 1-0 in front. Traore was also involved in the second goal of VfB, when he prepared the 2-0 by Max Wegner in the 21st minute. Just nine minutes later, Wegner made it 3-0 for the VfB after a cross from Justin Plautz.

After the change of sides, HSV II came back into the game and came to some chances. In the 53rd minute, Lukas Pinckert made the 3:1 for the hosts. In the final phase of the match, HSV II pushed for the connection goal, but Oldenburg defended passionately and ultimately brought the victory over time.

With this victory, VfB Oldenburg takes the first place in the table of the Regionalliga Nord, while HSV II is in 14th place after the first matchday. For VfB Oldenburg, the season continues next Saturday with a home game against Eintracht Norderstedt, while HSV II will play away at Heider SV.
